The fleet of Renault Master ambulances operated by Medicall scooped the honour of ‘Best Van Fleet of the Year’ accolade at the recent Fleet Transport Awards 2017. This award comes on the heels of the FTAI (Freight Transport Association Ireland) ‘Van Safe’ Accreditation and the ‘Safest Fleet’ Award 2016. Medicall was also finalists in the ‘Best Customer Services’ and ‘Passenger Transport Fleet of the Year’ Awards at the National Logistics Awards 2016.
The nationally based fleet of Renault Master emergency ambulances are the first in Ireland not only to be CEN certified but also to comply with the latest EU Directive on Whole Vehicle Type Approval, a huge step forward in patient and crew safety. No other ambulance operator in the country can make this claim.
The Renault Master ambulances have been fitted with the latest patient care equipment and use on-board tablet PCs for Command and Control. These facilities allow for efficient fleet tracking and for the delivery of the best possible patient care during transport. Traumasoft, whose software is also used by the Irish national governing body, the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council, tailored their software to meet Medicall’s particular demands.
The Renault Master ambulances are extensively adapted to Medicall’s own unique specifications by Baus Advanced Technologies, based in Poland. These adaptations allow for maximum versatility for day to day operations. All the vehicles can cater for patients ranging from new-borns in incubators all the way up to bariatric patients, with no requirement to return to their bases for modifications or additional equipment.
Commenting on the success Gary Breen, Fleet Sales Manager, Renault Ireland, said: “We at Renault are delighted to be involved with Medicall in supplying to them nineteen state-of-the-art Renault Master Ambulances. Renault has long been associated with providing Medicall with Renault Trafic and Master Ambulances and we are also very proud to be involved in a first for Ireland where the latest patient care equipment, safety and revolutionary new patient data technology is fitted in these innovative Renault vehicles. The Fleet Transport Best Van Fleet Award is well deserved and we wish the team at Medicall every success going forward”.
Andrew Lyle, Operations Director at Medicall Ambulance added: “We have been operating a fleet of Renault Master and Trafic vehicles for some years now. Our patients can be very seriously ill, and a breakdown during a transport could have disastrous implications. We have found the Master and Trafic vehicles to be extremely reliable in use as well as economical in operation. Renault’s after-sales support has also proven invaluable to us in keeping the fleet in top condition for its demanding role.”
