The Export Industry Awards 2017, which recognises the remarkable achievements of companies working in the export industry in Ireland, took place on Friday last, 17 November at the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road Dublin. Eleven companies won individual category awards across a range of sectors, with Kildare based Irish Dog Foods crowned the overall Exporter of the Year Award 2017 after winning the Medium Size Exporter of the Year Award category earlier in the evening.
Dixon International Logistics, Swords, Dublin won the Logistics & Supply Chain Company of the Year. The Finalists included Kuehne+Nagel, Dublin; McArdle Skeath, Louth ; Nolan Transport, Wexford ; O’Leary International ULC, Wexford; Post Logistics, Dublin; and TradeCert, Galway, while the Irish Continental Group (Irish Ferries/Eucon) was rewarded with the Maritime Services Company of the Year Award.
Irish comedian Mario Rosenstock was Master of Ceremonies at the black-tie Awards Ceremony & Gala Dinner which was attended by over 500 export industry professionals. Other guests included Mary Mitchell O’Connor TD, Minister of State at the Department of Education with special responsibility for Higher Education, together with representatives from over 25 Embassies, Secretary Generals and Awards sponsors.
Speaking at the Awards Ceremony, Nicola Byrne, President of the Irish Exporters Association said: “The Export Industry Awards began in 2001 and has gained momentum year on year. The 2017 Awards has seen the biggest and the most competitive year yet with more unique applications than ever before. Our Independent Judging Panel was particularly impressed with the competitiveness of the applications, and the international opportunities companies from Ireland are winning.”
