  Target Express shoots to Fleet Transport Irish Haulier of the Year 2012 title!

 MAN TGX EfficientLine wins Fleet Transport Irish Truck of the Year 2012

 

Target Express, the Dublin based pallet and parcel services provider was announced as the Irish Haulier of the Year 2012 (sponsored by TOTAL) at the fifth annual Fleet Transport Awards Gala Dinner, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry, Dublin on Monday, 3 October, 2011.

In the other major award presented on the night, the MAN TGX EfficientLine was announced as the Fleet Transport Irish Truck of the Year 2012 (in association with Texaco Lubricants)

With 526 vehicles and trailers and over 510 employees, Target Express is the largest Irish owned provider of pallet and parcel services to and from the UK and within Ireland. The company has 1.25 million square feet of warehouse space in twenty eight locations in Ireland and the UK. In winning the prestigious Fleet Transport Irish Haulier of the Year 2012 award, the company impressed judges with its advanced information systems and flexible transport and logistics soulutions.

Target Express was also the winner of the National Haulier of the Year award presented earlier in the evening. The firm will now go forward to represent Ireland in the European Transport Company of the Year finals in 2013.

The lowest CO2 emissions for a heavy duty truck and reduced fuel consumption were among the reasons given by the judging panel in awarding the title of Fleet Transport Irish Truck of the Year 2012 to the MAN TGX EfficientLine. Likewise, the Mitsubishi Fuso Canter Euro5 EEV was successful in the Light Duty class.

Volvo, Renault and Volkswagen took the honours in the Green Commercial Awards (sponsored by ESB eCars), emerging as winners in the Diesel/Electric Hybrid (Volvo FE Hybrid), Electric (Renault Kangoo Z.E.) and Natural Gas (VW Caddy EcoFuel) categories. On an evening dedicated to celebrating excellence in operation or services to the road transport industry, a total of 15 awards were presented, including first time honours recognising Women in Transport and Customer Service Excellence.

This year’s Fleet Transport Awards were the largest ever with over 625 representatives from the road transport and logistics industry attending the Gala Dinner which was hosted by RTE TV personality Marty Whelan. Guest of honour was Leo Varadkar T.D., Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport while among the other guests were Graham Smith, Vice President of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) and Roger Williams, CEO, All-Ireland Warehousing Association.
